THE VINTAGE SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AUSTRALIA G.P.O. Box 2365 Sydney 2001 Web site: www.vscca.org.au ACN 000 163 084 CLUB NEWSLETTER 20th JULY 2010 Members AT THE JULY MEETING CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE, SYDNEY Club visitor Vince Thompson spoke to us about the Concours d’Elegance which is to be held at St Patrick’s, Manly on the 10th of October, 2010. As well as the main Concours event, there is also to be a display of cars, and we are considering the possibility of having a Club display of about six representative cars as a way of promoting the Club. The committee will discuss this at its next meeting. If you think your cars would be suitable, and you would be prepared to display it for the day, please let us know. Look up the event on www.101010.com.au CHANGES TO SPEED CAMERAS Club member Sid Reinhardt addressed the meeting and warned us about what the new State Government speed cameras will mean and urged us to contact our local members about the matter. There was a strong response from those present wanting to be included on the list for more information. For those who weren’t at the meeting, the material which Sid presented is attached, as he was keen that all should be aware of this. (This is for the information of members and does not necessarily reflect the Club’s official view.) VALE NORM BICE It’s with great sadness that we pass on the news of Norm Bice’s death last Friday after a long illness. Norm was a long term and enthusiastic member of the club going back to at least the start of the 1970’s and I think a few years before that. In recent years Norm hardly missed a Club meeting and was a great enthusiast for our club films, particularly those of the early racing days. Norm and the whole family gave good support to the club even putting up a concerted family effort on our quiz nights. Norm developed an enviable and successful reputation as an out front historic racer behind the wheel of his ultra quick Lea Francis in the 70’s and 80’s and quite rightly earnt the nickname ‘Nasty’. We offer our condolences to Gwen and to his daughters, Robyn and Sandra and their families. Club members are invited to attend Norm’s funeral tomorrow at the East Chapel of Rookwood Crematorium at 2.15pm. The funeral notice is in today’s Herald. Please wear bright colours.
